Sweden introduced the Act Concerning Electricity Certificates 2003:113) in 2003 to increase the proportion of the country’s electricity produced from renewable energy sources - solar power, wind power, hydro power and biofuels, and from peat in CHP plants. Its objective is to increase the use of electricity from renewable energy sources by 17 TWh year 2016 compared to 2002.
